Mommy and Daddy Time...here we come!

Yes, I still love my husband dearly and love spending some good quality time with him. Yes, it has been over a year and a half that we have actually gone "away" together and spent more than one consecutive night "alone"! So, we are long over due for some us time....
Some very dear friends of ours have offered their beautiful lake home to Tim and I for the weekend. They do not rent it out, but use it for their own family and share it with close friends. What generous people they are, and we are so very thankful! Addie will be staying at her Mamaw's all weekend long while Tim and I lock ourselves away in the cozy lake house with lots of good food and plenty of movies to watch! I am very excited about our getaway and hope that Addie is very good for Mamaw and Grandpa Dave!

Visit with Ga Ga...

Addie visited a little with her Ga Ga (Tim's mom) this past weekend while I was in class. Tim said that she sat in that recliner watching cartoons with her for atleast 20 minutes, which is AMAZING to me, since she NEVER sits still when I am with her. Addie loves it when she has visitors!
SALLY UPDATE:
I know this picture is very small. My Dad sent this to me so it is my only copy. I wanted to let everyone know how my Sally is doing in her new home. This is her laying on a couch they have in their screened porch area. She is sleeping on her "blankie" that she slept on from the moment I got her and she is wearing what looks to me like a horse blanket, but for dogs! That cracks me up, especially since she is in FLORIDA! Guess Dad and Julie want to make sure she stays warm out there! I'm so happy she has a good home! I wouldn't have felt good about her being anywhere else.

Tuesday already?

Addie got this little book bag from Tim's aunt for Christmas. Since Dora has a famous "backpack" friend....she knows all about these little bags and loves wearing hers around the house!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in so long. My class this weekend just wore me out and getting back on the computer was not on my list of priorities! Addie and Tim had a great time together while I was in class and even got to spend some time with Ga Ga and Pop Pop. My mom picked Addie up Sunday morning so that Tim and I could go to church and ended up keeping her for the rest of the day. We decided to watch movies in bed instead of cleaning and doing bills like we were suppose to do. It was so nice to just relax! It reminded me of the days before Addie was born when Tim and I would push the sofas together to make one giant bed in front of the television, where we would be lazy all day long, watching movie after movie. What happened to "lazy Sundays"? Oh yeah.....we had a baby! No more movie days for us for the next 10 years or so.....that is unless Mamaw comes to the rescue!

Daddy and Addie weekend.......

I didnt take any new pictures lately, so I thought I would share one of my favorites from when she was small! Addie was 2 months old here......I have class this weekend. Yes, the time is here again, and I am so ready for a little time "all by myself" (if you call a window-less classroom with 16 cohort members and a syllabus on theories of teaching "all by myself"). I am anxious to get this class over with because then I will be 2 classes away from having my Master's. Wow! The year has gone by so fast! It will be nice to have every weekend to spend with Tim and Addie, although I am sure they will miss that time together.

Addie had her 18 month appt. today. She is 33 1/3 inches tall and weighs 25 lbs. 90th percentile for height and 70th percentile for weight. The little munchkin has thinned out a bit! Dr. Hall says she looks great and is very pleased to see her on a path to good health as far as the allergies are concerned! She cried like the biggest baby though and made a scene like the drama queen she is as I tried to pay the bill! What a little whiner!

One thing that drives me crazy...

POLITICS!!!! (and no, my picture has nothing to do with my post today...its just cute!)

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have a mind of my own and am not afraid to share my opinions. However, I am smart enough to know when to keep my mouth shut or when something I may say might hurt someone elses feelings. I can keep my opinions to myself when I think its best. Politics is one subject that most often causes some tension when brought up in conversation. It never fails, someone always ends up getting upset or even getting mean. I have never really been into politics and am even ashamed to admit I have never voted (please don't lecture me about it...I am aware that it is very important to exercise this right). I am surrounded by friends and family who are very passionate about the subject and sometimes even "mean" about it. What I don't understand is why people think that everyone in the whole world must believe as they do, or even that everyone in the whole world even cares what they believe at all? Facebook sparked my little rant on politics today. On Facebook, people can update their status and write about what they are doing and how they are feeling. I am amazed at how many people write political messages here. Its as if they think everyone reading actually cares about their particular political views, and some of the statements can even seem down right hurtful if you don't have the same views....Just one thing that drives me crazy....

Addie and Lily....

Last week we ventured to the Maynor's to visit with Kristy and Lily. The girls had a blast! Addie loved playing with all of Lily's toys. They both learned how to do "Ring Around the Rosie" (sort of). She slept well too, which is not what I expected since we don't travel often, and she is so used to her crib. She always surprises me. We wish that they lived closer to us, and at one time, they were going to move here, but things have changed and they are staying put. I'm just glad they are only an hour away!
Today is Martin Luther King Day and Addie's Mamaw, my mom, has off of school. We are going to go to lunch and spend some time with her, which I am positive Addie will eat up!

Birthday parties are so much fun!

Happy 2nd Birthday Emily! Can I have all of your new toys?

This past weekend while I was in class, Tim and Addie got to go to a Sesame Street Birthday party for little Emily. Apparently Addie was a wild child and didnt want to sit still long enough to really understand what was happening. Tim was exhausted when I finally got home. I thought that was a hoot!

Tim finally gets to see Duke play!

This is my dorky, but lovable husband, ready to watch his favorite basketball team play with a few buddies from college. Yes, he had on THREE layers of Duke gear and yes, they didn't all fit like they used to! He was so excited about this game. They travled down that afternoon and spent the night after the game, which Duke did indeed win. Tim said he felt like a child he was so excited! I was very happy to see him so pumped up and finally getting the chance to go to a game. However, Addie was less than thrilled when they pulled out of the driveway. She is not used to her Daddy coming home in the middle of the day and then leaving!

A cold rainy day...

This picture was taken about a year ago. It is truly amazing to me how much she has grown and changed since then. I just sit back and watch her these days, and I am amazed that she really is this little person, walking and talking (sort of) all over the place. Wow!
Today we made it to the library for storytime and then came back home to play in the play room with another little boy and his mommy. I have been trying to get all of my pictures in order and in photo albums and prepared to scrapbook her first birthday and Christmas. I hate it when I get behind on those things. Thats why I have decided not to scrapbook every picture I take. That would take me forever, and I would always be upset because I would always be behind. So, just a month-month book of her first year, Christmases, and birthdays.....and when I am feeling really motivated, family vacations! I really do enjoy pulling the finished projects out and looking through them. I'm a sap like that!
Tomorrow afternoon we are headed to Williamsburg to spend the night with Kristy, Brian, and Lily. It has been quite a while since we got the girls together and I am missing them terribly! It should be nice to catch up and have some fun!

Addie and Daddy Weekend

I have run out of pictures to share! I better start taking some more, huh? I have been busy scrambling to get all of my work done before class this weekend. I guess that is what you get for putting things off to the last minute. I am finally finished with a HUGE paper on Evolution and a PowerPoint Presentation that I have to present tonight. I cannot wait until Sunday!

Tim and Addie are headed to a birthday party tomorrow for little Emily, who is turning 2! I am sad to have to miss it and would love to see how she reacts to all of the Sesame Street characters and decorations they will have. I will try and get Tim to take some pictures there! Hope everyone is having a great week! Ill post again in a few days!

Grayson and Addie

Oh how she loves to hug!! Do you want another one Grayson?

Did I just do that?

Grayson is the handsome little boy of another college roomate of mine, Shanna. I have posted about them before as they come and visit quite often when they make it over the bay from the Eastern Shore. He is the most adorable little boy, and he is so laid back and easy-going. Every time I hang out with them, I have to just laugh at the different personalities of Addie and Grayson and how it mirrors their mommies! Oh well....you can't say she doesnt have some spunk!

It was so nice having some friends around for the evening. When everyone left and Monday rolled around and Tim was off to work, the house was much too quiet. I wish I lived closer to some of my good friends. I am often jealous of the "Richmond" crew and how close they live to each other, but still they see each other so little?

Check out my boots!

She's a little cowgirl wannabe!

These are the infamous boots that I brought home from my trip to Florida from Grandpa Rick and Grandma Julie. From the first time she saw these boots, she has been fascinated with the little lights on them and makes me grab them up every morning and push on the bottom of them to make them glow. She would not however, let me put them on her feet. Until......Anna came this weekend and tried herself! Addie would do anything for Anna, and yes, she even let her put those boots on her little feet. The were adorable! She isnt very good at walking in them, but they look so cute on her. I let her wear them to grocery store yesterday since all she does is sit in the cart the whole time, and you wouldnt believe the number of people who stopped to admire her fancy foot gear! Thanks Dad and Julie!

Anna comes to see us!

One of my college roomates, Anna, called this week and said she wanted to come down to see us for a night! I was so excited to see her! It was a nice feeling knowing she was driving down just to see us and to hang out with us for the evening....nothing else or noone else, just us! I have known Anna for about 8 years now. We were both Biology majors together and we also lived together my senior year at Longwood on our sorority hall. We have had some fun times together that is for sure!

Addie loves Anna. Even when she was months old she seems to really take to her. I think it is because Anna gives her undivided attention and has so much patience with her. Addie thinks she is her new toy for the weekend. They played and played and ate a million cheerios together- minus the ones that fell on the floor!
I have more pictures to share from the weekend, including some of Baby Grayson and Shanna, another college roomate, who unexpectedly happened to spend the night too - her little sister had a baby boy at a hospital close by, so she was able to visit with us later that evening too!
It was really so nice to see some of my friends for the night. That is one thing I am missing so much of here lately......and they mean so much to me!

Happy New Year!

Well, 2009 has arrived! I have so many things I want to make happen this year and it seems like time just flies by when you have a purpose in mind. 2008 was a good year for our little family. Addie turned 1 year old and finally started walking. She started using some words, giving us hugs, learning to "kiss kiss", and she started sleeping through the night finally! We were able to get her to a great doctor who has helped us get her breathing under control and on the road to excellent health! We have truly been blessed! Along the way were some bumps in the road that everyone must cross now and then.....Tim's "Pop" went to meet God, but that's not a bad thing at all.....My mom and I lost some close furry friends.....but heaven and great new homes aren't a bad thing either! The economy has made things stressful on everyone these days, but thats not the worst thing that can happen to people....We are all healthy and happy and that is the most important thing of all! I hope you all can look back at 2008 and smile too....I wonder what is in store for us all this year????
