I am very lucky.....

This morning as I sat with Addie on the floor and tried my hardest to show her exactly what crawling looks like and how you get started, I began to think about how lucky I am and how many blessings I have received in the last several years. First, almost 4 years ago, I met the most wonderful man out there. He continues to show me every day what it really means to love someone. Then, we found this wonderful house so close to our families and made it a comfortable, loving home. And here recently, after some tough times, we were blessed with Addie. Tim says almost every day " I don't know if I could love her any more......." He works so hard every day to make sure that I get to do what I have always wanted to do......stay at home with her and not miss a thing. I know that I am blessed and extremely lucky to be able to do this. I try and remember this each time I get frustrated, overwhelmed, lonely or "bored"........this is exactly where I want to be. Today, for the first time as we played on the floor, she leaned into me and layed her head on my shoulder for just a small second, and I was reminded just how lucky I am......thank you, Tim....I love ya....

And then there were TWO.......

This was the best I could do. She is not a happy camper today!

Addie finally has a second tooth! It broke through yesterday right beside the first one. I had several unsuccessful attempts at getting a picture of the little pearly whites, so I am waiting until after her morning nap in hopes that she will be in a better mood. I will add the picture later, hopefully. And today at music class, she actually put some weight on her legs and stood up as I held her hands. She looks so funny standing there! Will she ever crawl?

The Yard Sales were a huge success once again folks! Mrs. Hewitt picked up mom and I around 7:30, and by 7:45, we had to run back by the house to drop off our treasures and make room for more. I am totally addicted to the toys. Yes, I know that I am buying things she cannot play with yet, but I just can't pass up a good deal. I posted some pictures of some of my favorites!

This would be the make-up table we found for 10$

This is Addie's playroom, and you can see the chalkboard and table I found at last weeks treasure hunt.

Another shot of some of the treasures we found in the last two weeks!

The picture above is the Little People Nativity set that can only be purchased on-line for $30. We found it on Saturday and it was $3!!!

This is the sand table I found last week. Grandma Julie sent Addie some fun sand tools to use in it!

Addie and her new friend, Sydney!

As much as I love traveling to visit friends and family because it spices up my rather mudane life these days, it sure does squeeze the life out of me too! Addie and I took a small road trip to Richmond yesterday afternoon after the exciting day of "shopping"! I have a group of girlfriends there who try and get together atleast once a a week. It was the first time I was able to attend one of these little parties where there were babies and kids running around everywhere. It was kind of strange to sit back and think that these were the same girls I used to "hang" with on the sorority hall and here we were with babies and husbands (except me, my poor husband had to work today, so he stayed behind... :( Just an interesting thing to see.....made me a little sad at how fast time seems to fly! Anyways, we both had a great time visiting. Addie seemed to love my friend Warren's little girl, Sydney. They were constantly giving each other hugs and little kisses! How adorable! We did just great until.......night time. Addie woke up at midnight and did not like that fact that I had stuck her pack-n-play in my friend's office across from the guest room I was sleeping in. She must have gotten a little nervous about her surroundings because she went beserk! I ended up wrestling with the pack-n-play and shoving it across the hall beside me, only to have her refuse to be put in it again for the remainder of the night. Even after a nice, warm bottle, she ended up in bed with me, where she breathed really, really loud, and tossed, and turned and moaned.....and pretty much left me there to stare at her for the next several hours. I was exhausted this morning. Thanks to Mamaw! I made a pit stop at her house on the way home and let Addie and her play while I took a refreshing little nap! I know I say this every time I leave town and come home tired and cranky........"I will not be going away for a very long time!"

Addie's 9 Month Check-up!

Can you believe that she is already 9 months old? She weighs 22lbs and is 30 inches long......both in the 97th percentile of babies her age. She is going to be a tall girl! Dr. Hall was happy with Addie's development and says "no, she is not too chunky.....no, you are not feeding her too much....and yes, it is perfectly normal for her to be stubborn and not want to crawl as much as other babies". She also said that it is just fine if Addie only wants to eat Mac n Cheese baby food for every meal of the day. Although, we are going to start working on those finger foods and I promise not too feed her like a baby bird every time, but to let her grab the food and bring it to her own mouth! I also confessed to Dr. Hall that I have been turning off the monitor at night, and surprise, she is sleeping through the night now! Atleast, to me, she is sleeping through the night. I know that she wakes up and whines for a half hour or so, but she does manage to get herself back to sleep. So....if the monitor is off, I don't ever hear this temporary whining and she is slowly but surely, learning to get herself back to sleep! We are almost out of the woods folks! Still, no, we are not interested in having Baby #2 anytime soon.......but atleast now we will entertain the idea........in a few years!

Picture Day was a success!

Each time I take Addie to get her pictures done it is an adventure for sure. She hates getting dressed anyways, but hated taking on and off the swimsuit even more, but when the diaper is full, the diaper is full........Needlesstosay, we had a minor meltdown in the Sears bathroom, where she screamed and cried with real tears the entire time I battled with the bathing suit! I was one big ball of stress when I walked out of there towards the studio to have her pictures done. As soon as she spotted Sarah, the woman who takes her pictures, the tears dried up and she put on that goofy grin. Of course, Sarah can get her to smile and laugh......she wants to take good pictures and make me spend more money! Addie loves Sarah...and surprisingly did really well for her photo shoot! I always worry for nothing. With coupons in tow, I managed to walk out of there without breaking the bank and upsetting poor Tim! I'll start saving for her 1 year pictures now, though! I hope you all enjoy the pictures. We will let you know how her doc appointment goes tomorrow morning. I know I am biased because she is mine, but I am absolutely in love with that smile of hers! Can you blame me?

Almost crawling......

Addie loves playing with her toys! She is so curious!

Addie has been particularly fussy the past couple of days. We think it is a combination of her teeth bothering her and her being frustrated with just "sitting" around all of the time. She wants to get up and go, but she just can't seem to get that belly of hers up off the ground! Today we managed to get out of the house after her morning nap. After a few errands around town, we stopped to visit with Grandpa Dave at his office and then headed home for a wagon ride around the neighborhood. You should see her in this wagon! She sits all laid back with her feet propped up and her sippy cup tightly gripped in the one hand. The other hand has a death grip on the side of the wagon. I don't think she feels all that comfortable in it yet! We are very excited for the warm weather! Tomorrow we have an appointment to get her 9 month pictures taken and Friday is her 9 month check-up! We'll let ya know how that goes!

Addie and Lily....best friends already!

As many of you already know, one of my closest friends found out she was pregnant four weeks after Tim and I knew we were going to have a baby. What a blessing! We got to do it together, except for one thing.....I had to do it first! Anyways, Lily was born on Aug. 19th and Addie was just turning four weeks old. Kristy and Brian, Lily's parents, live about an hour away and are currently trying to sell their house and move here where Brian's new job is. We hope it happens soon because the girls are just starting to really enjoy each other. They came down last night and spent the night here. Addie and Lily had the best time discovering each other. They have been around each other since they were weeks old, but now they notice one another. It is really very cute. They both played so hard that they slept thru the night and took a two hour nap this morning! I love having Kristy around and don't mind the drive to see them until they can finally move here. Kristy and I met our freshman year in college, where we became very close friends. We have been through a lot of things together, and I know I have a forever friend in her for sure......let's just hope the girls really do like each other!

Post # 3 on our new Blog! Do you think I will keep it up?

Hi everyone! I have been in class all weekend so I missed yesterday's blog. Up until I left for class, things were pretty quiet around here. Tim and Addie and I took our free Chick-fil-a Coupons and headed out for a nice family breakfast at our new local Chick-fil-a. That was fun!
Today has been a busy day, however! I am a yard-sale, treasure-findin fool! My mother-in-law has got me hooked and she has trained me pretty well too! I scooped mom up before my class this morning at 7:15 and had a full hour and a half of treasure huntin! I am totally addicted to toys, and the problem is, I buy things that Addie will not even come close to playing with for atleast another year or so....I just can't pass up a deal! Today, in that short amount of time, I found a chalkboard (6$), a rather large dollhouse with furniture and all (3$), a Little Tykes table and Chairs (8$) and a bunch of smaller things that mom took to her house for Addie to play with there. We only spent about 30$, and we got SO MANY TOYS! I have already Lysoled them all down and given them a good scrubbin.....They look brand new! I can't wait to go next week!
I went to class after that and got out early, and Tim and I even managed to get an hour of Kayaking in while Addie played at Mamaw's! We havent done that together in over a year and a half, so...it was really fun! WHEW.....what a day! I hope Addie is having a good time!

Day #2.......Looking good!

Well, so far it looks like this blogging thing might actually be a success! However, I really haven't got a lot to tell you since we have had a pretty quiet day around here (except for right at this very moment because sweet little Addie girl does not want to take a nap!)
Addie did not sleep very well last night. We like to think it was her sore gums from teething and not the fact that she is actually becoming spoiled and knew that eventually her sweet Daddy would come to her rescue and let her sleep on his chest for the remainder of the night. I woke up at 3:00 am to find Sally, the dog, to my immediate left, and then Tim on the other side of her with Addie sawing logs on top of him. We had a full bed! She did eventually end up back in her crib and slept until about 7:00!
After breakfast, Addie and I headed to our weekly play group with a friend of mine, Triva, and her two little boys. After a nap for Addie and a shower for Mommy, we met up with another friend of mine and went walking outside around the Homearama Neighborhood near here. Man...those houses are huge...One of them was for sale and when I checked out the flyer, they were asking $1,100,000 !!!!!!!!!!! Can you believe that? Anyways, we were just thankful to get outside with some sunshine. We have been stuck in the house all week because of the cold weather! We are all so anxious for the summer to get here.
No new teeth, and no, Dad, she hasn't started crawling yet! I'll let you know when it happens though!

Let's just see how this goes......

Well, for the last year and a half or so I have spent a couple of minutes out of each day reading about my cousin, Erin, and her cute little family's adventures. I love catching up on her life and watching her kids grow and change thru this website. Unfortunately we do not get to see each other very much, so this blog is the perfect way for me to stay in the loop. I have been hesitant to try and start my own blog because I am not the most tech-savy person in the world and I thought it would be much too difficult to figure out. Well, it is actually pretty easy! I think it will be a great way to let our family and friends, especially those we do not get to see often enough, know how we are doing and how Addie is changing. So, let's get started...

Most of you know that Addison Leigh was born on July 17, 2007. Tim and I are so blessed to have her in our lives and thankful that she is happy and healthy. It has been a challenging nine months for us all. Addie had some issues with reflux and that made for a very fussy baby in the beginning. As soon as that was under control, things started coming together.

Addie turns nine months this Friday and I just can't figure out where the time goes! Every once in a while she gives us a night of complete sleep without the midnight feeding or random crying! She is not the best night-time sleeper in the world. She has one tooth showing and one on the way, and she has the biggest, goofiest grin in the world right now! Her favorite thing to do is swing and play in the floor with her Daddy and her toys...boy does she have some toys!

Hopefully, I will keep up with this and fill you in on our little adventures. I would still like to think that nothing can quite replace an old fashioned conversation, so....call us sometime! Love to you all.....Carrie, Tim, and ADdie
